I thought I would make my comment about Methotrexate (chemo) for those who haven't come accross it before. It is a nasty little drug that attacks cells in a persons body, unfortunately it attacks good as well as bad, this is something that goes with having to take it. It has side effects that bothers some people and not others, I personally am not bothered by it, but I am bothered with it having to take it my self. I have known people on this unforgiving drug and for that I can truely say "I know how you feel" but the thing that really rattles me is the comments and remarks made by stupid pathetic idiotic morons that have no idea what chemotherapy is about and what it does to people.
For example, I was standing in line at a bank in Western Sydney, Australia when 2 crotchity old women whoes makeup looked like it had been put on with a trowel, who stank like they had drownd themselves in $1.95 a gallon perfume from K Mart had the gall to make comments about a young girl who had no hair, "Oh that is disgusting a girl that age shaving her head" was one comment, "Young people today are just uncontrolable" was another "Parents just don't care about their kids these days not like our parents" was yet another.
What these 2 old bags didn't notice was that this young girl had no eyebrows either and she was pale.
Ok course this was my cue to say something "If you 2 old bags actually stopped critising people for a couple of minutes and took a look you would notice that she has no eyebrows as well as no hair, maybe she is on chemo or being treated for something which has hair loss side effects, does that make her any different to me, I am on the same stuff as well but I was fortunate enough to keep my hair", they both stood there with their mouths open.

When I started on Chemo I was told by a friend that was already on it, "You will find out who your friends really are, a lot of people will not ring or talk to you anymore". She was right, the so called close friends didn't ring, come around or contact me anymore, I couldn't believe that people could be so pathetic. I still have a few good friends that are always ringing or contacting me, I can trust them, I would do just about anything for them because they have always stuck by me through good and bad.
I have a depressed immune system which means that I can catch colds or any bug that is going around easily which makes it difficult because it can cause unbelieveable complications, my friends understand this and are always cautious when they come near me if they are getting over a cold or one of the kids are sick.

My whole point to this is, if you are one of these people who are quick to make remarks about someones appearence or you know someone that is being treated with Chemo, stop and think that the person you are about to criticize may have a good reason for looking like they do, if you know someone on chemo don't loose contact with them, don't ignore them, you cannot catch what they have nor will it effect you.
One of the key elements to a quick recovery is positive attitude, how can you be possitive when everyone around you either deserted or criticizes you. People who are on chemo have enough problems without other selfish and inconsiderate persons creating more problems.
